OUR MUSIC AND ARTS PROGRAMS
The Musical Access Program (M.A.P.)
The Musical Access Program is intended to expose children to musical experiences through live performances and Music Fun Time. The M.A.P. includes Sound Mind Music Conservatory bringing instruments to schools and community centers so that children can try band instruments such as the flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, and trombone, and string instruments such as violin, viola, cello, and guitar. Through this program, children are inspired to explore music and play instruments. SMMC brings performers and music professionals to schools. Beyond students experiencing a live performance, musicians will share their stories and speak about the importance of creativity, leadership, perseverance, resilience, teamwork, and higher education, and a career in music.
Students Opening Academic Roads School Program (S.O.A.R.)
The Student Opening Academic Roads Programs provide instrumental instruction in a group setting at schools and communitycenters. Students learn the character values of creativity, leadership, perseverance, resilience, and teamwork through music education. While in the School Program, students receive instruments, music books, and other supplementary materials. The classes teach note reading and the fundamentals of instrument performance in weekly or bi-weekly hour-long classes. Students perform for their school and community at the end of each semester.
Sound of Lifelong Opportunities Program (S.O.L.O.)
The SOLO Program provides one-on-one lessons to students. Students receive mentorship to prepare them for auditions and high-level performances. Students learn the character values of creativity, leadership, perseverance, resilience, and teamwork through music education. While in the SOLO Program, students receive access to musical instruments, music books, and other supplementary materials. It is out of this program that students have the opportunity to join The Sound Mind Music Collective and perform with various ensembles that can lead to advanced musical careers.
The Sound Mind Music Collective (The Collective)
The Collective Program is for exceptional Sound Mind Music Conservatory students that exemplifies all of our character values. Students in this program will be apart of an ensemble that experiences working with other students, attend concerts, take performance lessons, and take theory classes for an hour per week. These students perform throughout the city, using their community as their stage. Collective students will also have opportunities to record with their ensemble or as a SOLO artist, while learning about the usage of music technology and the music industry. Following in the footsteps of our graduating seniors, this program gives children the opportunity to impact the lives of others through their community outreach while gaining a deeper understanding of their craft.
*** Students invited to play in The Sound Mind Music Collective do not pay additional fees.
Production & Artist Development Program (A.D.P.)
The Sound Mind Music Conservatory’s Artist Development Program is a transformative experience designed to shape well-rounded, emotionally grounded, and professionally prepared artists. More than just music instruction, the A.D.P. is a holistic journey that blends artistic excellence with personal growth and mental wellness. Through intentional training in musicianship, performance, production, music business, and leadership, students will develop the confidence and clarity to pursue their purpose as creators. Whether emerging or advanced, every artist in the program is empowered to discover their unique voice, express their truth, and build a sustainable path forward in the music industry and beyond.
